Heritage

Camp Awana is blessed with a rich spiritual heritage. Its roots go back to 1933 when Lance and Virginia Latham, the founders of Camp Awana and the North Side Gospel Center, started Camp Mich-a-Dune in the state of Michigan. The Lathams continued to take boys and girls to camps in Michigan until Camp Awana was established in 1946 at its present location in Wisconsin. Camp Awana is a well-equipped and cared for facility.

It has quality leadership that is dedicated to ministry with boys and girls, and an overall camping experience that produces growth and enrichment in the life of each camper. Red-Cross safety instructors watch over all waterfront activities and a camp nurse is on duty at all times.
